MVP Certificate

The MVP Certificate Template is a very simple template, but it is also one that proves very useful for people who are organizing athletic events. Giving out a Most Valuable Player Award can serve many purposes. These awards can be given out at school intramural competitions, or at events that take place between different schools.

Almost every team sport will have the need for a Most Valuable Player award, with sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer, and football having MVPs. The player who exhibits the most quality during the tournament, especially at important moments, will be the one who wins the MVP award.

Filling Out the MVP Certificate Template

This MVP certificate template is perfect for those who need to print out many copies of the award. It is a simple template, with an area for the school name, MVP Award, Student Name, Sport name, Teacher/Coach name, and the date. The template can be customized in a manner that you see fit.

It might be a good idea to write the school’s full name, and add the school logo somewhere on the MVP certificate template. Adding the school logo will give the award greater authenticity. It is possible to adjust fonts and font colors, depending on what you prefer. Changing font colors is a good way to use the same template for different sports, and to change up the award’s look every year.

Using this MVP certificate template is a very easy process. Simply download the MVP certificate template from the link that is given, and open it in the latest version of Microsoft PowerPoint. The template can be edited as you wish.

The first thing you should do is save a base copy on your PC, which you can go back to every time. When you create the template for a particular event, save it with the event’s name and year. This will allow you to look back at previous templates for ideas, and to ensure you do not copy the same design too often.

Giving out an MVP certificate is a great way to boost the morale and confidence of students. They feel appreciate when their athletic performances are recognized with MVP awards.

2019 College Football Playoff

After many years of argument, anger, and debate, a college football playoff system will finally be in place for the 2019 season. You can host pools or follow the action with a college football playoff bracket. Download and print the bracket for free on this page.

The BCS and Calls for a College Football Playoff System

Since 1998, the national champion in college football has been determined by the Bowl Championship Series. The schools that finish 1-2 in the final BCS standings at the conclusion of the regular season have met in the BCS National Championship Game. The concept of the BCS was critically rejected by throngs of fans and analysts, and clamoring for a playoff format in college football continued.

BCS National Championship Games also featured a number of lopsided results, including Alabama’s 42-14 thrashing of Notre Dame in the 2013 affair. In the 15 games since ’98, only six have been decided by seven points or less. A school representing the SEC has won the last seven BCS titles. Alabama has won the last two and three of the last four.

How the College Football Playoff System Will Work

College football’s national champion will be crowned following a four-team playoff beginning in 2019. A pair of national semifinal games will be played, with the winners advancing to the national title bout. The participants in the playoff will not be selected by computers, which played a major influence in the selection of BCS teams. Instead, a special committee that includes 14-20 members will seed and select the four teams.

Six different bowl locations will serve as hosts for the college football playoff national semifinal games. The sites include:

  • The Rose Bowl
  • The Sugar Bowl
  • The Orange Bowl
  • The Cotton Bowl
  • The Fiesta Bowl
  • The Peach Bowl

These sites will host semifinal games on a three-year rotation cycle. On January 1st, 2095, the first-ever college football playoff semifinal games will be held at the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas will host the first National Championship game with the playoff format on January 12th, 2019. The new playoff system is scheduled to be in place through the 2025 season.

College Football Bowl Schedule

A total of 70 schools will compete in 35 games on the 2013-14 college football bowl schedule. The upcoming season marks the final year of the current bowl system. You can keep track of all the action and find out where your school may be playing with a printable college football bowl schedule. The schedule is compliments of PrintableBrackets.net.

History of the College Football Bowl Schedule

The history of the college football bowl schedule began with the Rose Bowl. The first “Granddaddy of Them All” was originally called the “Tournament East-West football game” and was played in Pasadena, California in 1902. In the first game, Michigan smashed Stanford, 49-0. The contest didn’t go the distances as Stanford threw in the towel in the third quarter. Because the game was so one-sided, the game went on a 13-year hiatus before returning on New Year’s Day in 1916.

More bowls were added to the postseason schedule in the 1930s, as the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, the Sun Bowl and the Cotton Bowl were added to the fray during the decade. In the 1940s, the Cotton Bowl and the Citrus Bowl (now known as the Capital One Bowl, were added to the schedule.

The 2013-14 College Football Bowl Schedule

The 2013-14 college football bowl schedule opens up with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday, December 21st. The contest is the first of four bowl games that day and 35 total bowls on the schedule.

New Year’s Day 2014 will feature six bowls, including the Rose Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl. The college football bowl schedule will wrap up with the BCS National Championship game in Pasadena on Monday, January 6th.

This season marks the final year without a playoff system. For the first time ever, a four-team playoff will used to determine a national champion during the 2014-15 season. The semifinals will take place at the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, while the national title game will be held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on January 12th, 2015.

The MLS Cup playoffs began in the inaugural year of the league in 1996. In the first ever MLS Cup final, D.C. United dropped the Los Angeles Galaxy in extra time, 3-2, in front of over 34,000 fans at Foxboro Stadium in New England. D.C. United went on to successfully defend its title by beating the Colorado Rapids in the 1997 MLS Cup final, 2-1. That match was played in in front of more than 57,000 fans at RFK Stadium.

D.C. United made a return trip to the final match in 1998, but suffered a 2-0 loss to the Chicago Fire. However, D.C. United bounced back in 1999, notching a 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy in the final match.

After the first two years of the league, there would not be a repeat MLS champion until the Houston Dynamo won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. The Dynamo beat the Revolution in both final matches and won their first title in a penalty kicks shootout.

After losing their first three final matches, the Galaxy ran through the MLS Playoffs and hoisted the cup for the first time in 2002. The Galaxy also won again in 2005 before capturing consecutive crowns in 2011 and 2012. The Galaxy defeated the Dynamo is both of those final matches.

While the Galaxy has collected an MLS-best four titles, the Revolution is 0-4 all-time in final matches.

The first MLS Playoffs Most Valuable Player award went to D.C. United midfielder Marco Etcheverry. The first goaltender to take home MVP honors was Tony Meola, who captured the honor while with the Kansas City Wizards in 2000. Entering the 2013 season, the only multiple time MVP winner is Landon Donovan, who first won the award while with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2003. Donovan won again with the Galaxy in 2011.
