Big Ten Basketball Tournament

This year’s Big Ten basketball tournament will begin on Thursday, March 13th. The championship game will be held on Sunday, March 16th, which is also the same day the field for the NCAA Tournament will be announced.

History of the Big Ten Basketball Tournament

The first Big Ten tournament was played at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois in 1998. Michigan defeated Purdue in the inaugural championship game, but the victory was later vacated due to a scandal involving team booster Ed Martin. Michigan State won the next two championship games and also defeated Ohio State in the 2012 tournament final. Ohio State knocked off Wisconsin, 50-43, in the title game in 2013. Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Purdue have also previously won the Big Ten tournament.

Several future NBA players have been named Most Valuable Player of the Big Ten basketball tournament. The first MVP was Michigan’s Robert Traylor, but he was forced to relinquish the honor. Other MVP’s and future NBA players include Wisconsin’s Devin Harris, Ohio State’s Mike Conley Jr., Evan Turner and Jared Sullinger, and Iowa’s Reggie Evans.

2014 Big Ten Basketball Tournament

The 2014 Big Ten basketball tournament will be held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The 2013 edition of the event was at the United Center in Chicago, which will be the host site again in 2015. The tournament will then return to Indianapolis in 2016. All games in this year’s event will be televised nationally across four different networks.

Women’s Big Ten Basketball Tournament

The women’s Big Ten tournament actually pre-dates the men’s event by three years. Penn State knocked off Ohio State in the first championship game and won the first two tournament titles. Purdue won the most recent title in 2012 and has won a conference-high eight tournaments overall. Ohio State has collected four conference tournament crowns, while Iowa has two. Illinois, Michigan Minnesota, Northwestern and Wisconsin are among the schools to never win a conference title.

Super Bowl 2014

Super Bowl 2014 will take place Sunday, February 2nd. The 48th installment of the Super Bowl will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The New York metropolitan area will be hosting an NFL Championship Game for the first time since the Green Bay Packers beat the New York Giants in Yankee Stadium in 1962. The AFL Championship Game was played in New York in 1968, while the USFL Championship Game took place at the old Giants Stadium in 1985.

Super Bowl 2014: Cold-Weather Game

Super Bowl XLVIII will mark the first time that the game is played in a cold-weather city with a stadium that does not have a roof or a dome. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said that Super Bowl 2014 will serve as a test for hosting future Super Bowls in cold-weather cities.

The billion-dollar facility first opened in April 2010 and holds over 82,000 fans. MetLife Stadium was chosen over Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida and Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Super Bowl 2014: Giants, Jets

For the 47th consecutive year, the home team failed in its bid to host the Super Bowl when the New Orleans Saints missed the playoffs last season. In 2014, two teams will have the opportunity to host the game, as MetLife Stadium is the home of the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

The Giants recently won it all during the 2007 and 2011 seasons. Both times the Giants defeated the New England Patriots for the championship. The Giants followed up their Super Bowl victory in 2012 by missing the playoffs. The Giants have won four Super Bowl titles in franchise history, with their wins coming in California, Florida, Arizona and Indiana, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Jets were victorious in their only Super Bowl appearance. However, that was in Super Bowl III during the 1968 season. The Jets beat the heavily-favored Baltimore Colts in Miami. The Jets were just 6-10 during the 2012 season.

Super Bowl 2013

Super Bowl 2013 will pit the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers against the AFC champion Baltimore Ravens. Super Bowl Sunday 2013 will take place at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 3rd. This year’s big game isn’t short on riveting storylines. One thing is for certain; a Harbaugh will be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy by the end of the night.

Super Bowl 2013: The Harbaugh Bowl

Super Bowl Sunday 2013 has been dubbed by many as the “HarBowl,” as San Francisco head coach Jim Harbaugh will square off with Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh. It marks the first time in NFL history that the head men on opposing sidelines in the big game are brothers.super-bowl-2013

This isn’t, however, the first time the brothers will lead their teams on the field against each other. On Thanksgiving night in 2011, John and the Ravens got the best of Jim and the 49ers in Baltimore, 16-6.

Super Bowl 2013: Ray Lewis’ “Last Ride”

Prior to the start of the postseason, star Ravens linebacker announced that he will be retiring at the end of the season. Lewis missed most of the regular season due to a triceps tear, but returned for what he termed will be his “last ride.”

Super Bowl Sunday 2013 will mark the end of a career that includes 13 Pro Bowl selections, 10 All-Pro selections and two NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards. Lewis also won Most Valuable Player honors when the Ravens beat the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV.

Super Bowl 2013: Kaepernick’s Crew

In Week 10 of the regular season, San Francisco starting quarterback Alex Smith suffered a concussion that opened the door for second-year signal-caller Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick made his first NFL start in a 32-7 trouncing of the Bears on “Monday Night Football” on November 19th and has kept the job ever since.

In his first playoff game, Kaepernick set an NFL record for rushing yards by a quarterback in any game with 181 yards. Kaepernick then helped the Niners erase a 17-0 deficit and rally for a 28-24 win over the Falcons in the NFC Championship Game.

On Super Bowl Sunday 2013, Kaepernick will join the likes of Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Steve Young as starting quarterbacks for the Niners in the big game.

Super Bowl 2013: History

On Super Bowl Sunday 2013, the 49ers will look to match the Pittsburgh Steelers in all-time Super Bowl wins. San Francisco is a perfect 5-0 in its previous trips to the title game. Baltimore is making only its second Super Bowl appearance. The Ravens were victorious in their only other trip in 2001. The Niners and Ravens have only met three times since 2001. Baltimore has won all three meetings.

Super Bowl 2013: Squares and Party Gamessuper bowl party games

Super Bowl Sunday 2013 will be considered by some to be a national holiday. Millions of Americans will host parties and gatherings around the nation. Super Bowl squares and Super Bowl prop bets contests are popular additions to any party. Printable Brackets has released a special Super Bowl squares template featuring the logos of the combatants in this year’s big game. This template, as well as a prop bets contest, is completely complimentary.

2020 NHL Playoff Bracket

The 2020 NHL season will be the 95th season of play on the ice. While it’s the 96th year of operation, it’s the 95th season because of the lockout that wiped out the 2004-05 campaign. NHL fans were nearly forced to endure the same pain after the start of another lockout in 2019. Things appeared grim for a season and NHL playoff bracket until the lockout was finally resolved in January.

NHL Playoff Bracket: 2020 Lockout

The 2012 NHL lockout began when the collective bargaining agreement expired in September. The work stoppage came after the NHL playoff bracket at the conclusion of the 2011-12 season featured some of the most exciting games in recent memory.nhl-playoff-bracket

In all, 510 regular season games were canceled from the NHL schedule. The popular “Winter Classic” and 2013 All-Star Game were also erased. The lockout stifled the momentum built by the previous 2012 NHL playoff bracket and left fans angry and frustrated.

After agreeing to a new CBA, it was determined that the revised 2013 NHL schedule would begin on January 19th. Instead of playing 82 games, each team would play a compressed 48-game schedule.

2020 NFL Playoffs

For football fans around the world, the wait is over. After a long, grueling season that featured many twists and turns, the 2020 NFL playoffs are finally upon us. This year’s postseason features a perfect blend of youth and experience. While some stellar rookies led their respective squads to surprising seasons, household names also came up big in the biggest games of the year.

Storylines abound for the 2020 NFL playoffs. You can follow all the action, track your favorite team, make your predictions, or get involved in an office or friendly pool with a complimentary NFL playoff bracket. These brackets will keep you up-to-date from Wild Card weekend all the way through Super Bowl XLVII.

2020 NFL Playoffs: Wild Card Rookies

The opening round of the 2020 NFL playoffs will be headlined by the three rookie quarterbacks that stole the show during the regular season. On the NFC side of the playoff bracket, two of the rookies will meet as Robert Griffin III and the Redskins will square off with Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks in Washington. The ‘Skins traded up to take “RG3” with the second overall pick, while Seattle snagged Wilson in the third round. The duel-threat signal-callers each guided their teams to double-digit wins in their first season.nfl-playoff-bracket

The opening-round game with the most storylines is unquestionably the AFC Wild Card bout between the Colts and Ravens in Baltimore. After finishing 2-14 last season, the Colts selected Andrew Luck with the first overall pick. Luck went on to lead Indianapolis to a surprising 11-5 record and a Wild Card berth. Luck played much of the season without head coach Chuck Pagano, who endured a battle with leukemia and returned to the sidelines for the final game of the season.

The Colts aren’t the only ones with storylines in this affair, as star Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis announced days before the game that the 2020 NFL playoffs will mark the end of his career. The 37-year-old Lewis is hanging up his cleats after 17 NFL seasons. Lewis is the last remaining original Raven and was named Super Bowl XXXV MVP.

2020 NFL Playoffs: Legends and Legacies

While the rookies garnered the bulk of the attention during the regular season, the 2020 NFL playoffs wouldn’t be complete without a pair of quarterbacking legends attempting to cement their legacies. Peyton Manning returned from a one-year absence and guided the Denver Broncos to the best record in the AFC. Manning enters the 2020 NFL playoffs as a leading candidate for both Comeback Player of the Year and league MVP.

While Manning captured the Lombardi Trophy and MVP honors while with the Colts in Super Bowl XLI, his interception returned by Tracy Porter for a touchdown was the back-breaking play in a Super Bowl XLIV loss to the New Orleans Saints. The 36-year-old Manning has just a 9-10 record in playoff games and has one fewer Super Bowl ring than younger brother and Giants quarterback, Eli.

Manning isn’t the only future Hall-of-Famer looking to add to his legacy. Tom Brady led the New England Patriots to the second-best record in the AFC during the regular season. The 35-year-old Brady is already a three-time Super Bowl champion, but has come up short against Eli and the Giants in his last two appearances in the big game, including last season. Brady enters the 2020 NFL playoffs looking to become the first quarterback to lead a team to six Super Bowls.

2020 NFL Playoffs: Open Questions

The 2020 NFL playoffs are full of open questions. After leading the Atlanta Falcons to the best record in the NFC, can quarterback Matt Ryan finally get his first playoff victory? Will 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh regret his decision to go with Colin Kapernick at quarterback over Alex Smith, who led second-seeded San Francisco to the conference title game just last season?

Can the Houston Texans recover from their late season swoon, or will the Cincinnati Bengals pick up their first playoff victory since 1991? Days after finishing just short in his pursuit of the single-season rushing record, can Adrian Peterson lead the Minnesota Vikings to another upset win over the Green Bay Packers?

All these questions and more will be answered when the 2020 NFL playoffs get underway on Saturday, January 5th. The conference championship games will take place on Sunday, January 20th before the season culminates with Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans on Sunday, February 3rd.

The History of NBA Playoffs Bracket

The National Basketball Association (NBA) was originally known as the BAA until the league merged with the NBL in 1949. In the first season of the BAA playoffs in 1947, a three-stage, six-team tournament took place. The Philadelphia Warriors outlasted the Chicago Stags in a seven-game series to win the title. The playoff format changed several times and teams were added and taken away during the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

The current playoff system in the NBA was put in place in 2006. A total of eight teams from each conferencnba playoffs bracket template e claim a spot in the postseason. The conference tournaments consist of three best-of-seven rounds. The winner of each conference championship series earns a spot in the NBA Finals. The championship series is also a best-of-seven set, and the winner earns the right to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy at the conclusion of the series.

Running an NBA Playoffs Bracket Pool

An NBA playoffs bracket pool or contest can be set up much like a March Madness pool. There are clearly far fewer teams in the field, but a weighted system can still be used to award more points for correct picks in later rounds.

The NBA playoffs and NCAA men’s college basketball tournament are difficult to compare, but the professional postseason can definitely be more enjoyable by starting an NBA playoffs bracket contest or pool in the home or office.

Big 12 Tournament Bracket

The Big 12 men’s basketball tournament is one of the biggest events prior to the start of “March Madness.” Since the late 1990s, some of the top teams in the nation have been battling it out for the conference crown and an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. School students and fans can easily track all the action with a Big 12 tournament bracket. The sheet can also be used to create a pool with your friends, family or co-workers.

History of the Big 12 Tournament Bracket

The first Big 12 men’s basketball tournament was held in 1997 in Kansas City, Missouri. That year, top-seeded Kansas rolled through the Big 12 tournament bracket and crushed Missouri in the first title game. The Jayhawks went on to win the first three Big 12 tournaments.

Kansas has dominated the single-elimination event, going 9-and-1 in championship games and 30-and-7 in Big 12 tournament bracket games overall. All the other teams in the conference have combined to win only eight title games.

The Oklahoma Sooners are second to the Jayhawks in title game victories with three. The Missouri Tigers, who won the tournament in 2012, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys have two championship game victories apiece.

While the Texas Longhorns have a decent overall record in Big 12 tournament bracket games, they are 0-and-6 all-time in championship games.

Women’s Big 12 Tournament Bracket

The Big 12 tournament isn’t just reserved for men, as women have also participated in the single-elimination event every year since 1997. Colorado, which is no longer a member of the conference, won the inaugural event in Kansas City.

Baylor captured the 2013 championship and has won the event an all-time high five times. Oklahoma has captured the women’s Big 12 tournament bracket title four times. Iowa State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech have won two title games apiece. Just like with the men, the tournament winner receives an automatic spot in “The Big Dance.”
